Mayim Bialik, the actress best known as the title character from the ’90s show “Blossom”, has officially filed for divorce from her husband of nine years, Michael Stone.

The couple has two children together and have released a statement regarding their decision, saying it didn’t come lightly.

“After much consideration and soul-searching, Michael and I have arrived at the decision to divorce due to ‘Irreconcilable Differences,'” she wrote on her blog. “Divorce is terribly sad, painful and incomprehensible for children. It is not something we have decided lightly…the main priority for us now is to make the transition to two loving homes as smooth and painless as possible.”

Bialik has had a rough year, despite finding success on the enormously popular sitcom “Big Bang Theory”; back in August, she suffered a severe injury to her hand during a car accident which nearly left her without a finger. In what might have been the highlight of her 2012, she was nominated for an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy.
