The 1999 film,The Talented Mr. Ripley enchanted audiences with its dramatic plot and phenomenal cast. Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law worked alongside the late Philip Seymour Hoffman creating a crime drama that’s still getting attention today.

On Good Morning America, Matt Damon talked about the sudden loss of his past co-star and why he was, “one of the best actors that ever lived.”

While they’re promoting his latest film, Monuments Men, Damon was asked about the loss of Hoffman. His response was sincere and heartbreaking.

"He was one of the best actors that ever lived without a doubt," he said. "And he was an even better person. He was a beautiful person. It's horrible."

Former Mr. Ripley co-star Paltrow remembered the star via Instagram.
