One of the original “supermodels” of the ’90s, Linda Evangelista once said that a good model “doesn’t wake up for less than $10,000 a day”; looks like she wants to pass that bit of wisdom on to her son.
Evangelista is seeking a whopping $46,000 a month in child support for her 5-year old son from ex, Francois-Henri Pinault–who is a bigwig for PPR, a huge conglomerate company which owns Yves Saint Laurent, Gucci and Bottega Veneta. He’s also the heir to a multiple-billion dollar fortune, so the question on everyone’s minds isn’t whether or not he can afford to keep up with his ex’s demands; it’s whether she should be making them in the first place.
Pinault, who is now married to actress Selma Hayek and has a child with her, hasn’t done much in the way of helping to raise his son and hasn’t given a penny towards his care, according to Evangelista and her lawyer, William Beslow. While the amount sounds extreme to us non-celebrities, Evangelista claims it’s completely necessary for the round-the-clock nannies and bodyguards she has to employ on her son’s behalf, especially now that the story of her child-support demands is going public.
Given Pinault’s financial status, it probably won’t be too hard to convince the judge that her son’s monetary needs be met.
