Leighton Meester and Adam Brody created the news heard 'round the world this week when it was revealed that the television stars had gotten married in a private ceremony, but as recently as 2012, the actress wasn't sure she even wanted to be married.

Meester said in an interview with Marie Claire that she didn't have her first boyfriend until she was 18 and never cared much about the things her peers were into. As a kid raised by her grandmother while her mom was in jail, Meester says she had more important worries.

"I couldn't relate to kid stuff -- 'Jimmy doesn't like me!' Who cares? I was worried we didn't have gas money or food," Meester said. "Those were my concerns....I never had a boyfriend until I was 18. It's nice, I guess - when you like them. But it isn't the most important thing. I'm not sure I ever want to get married. The only time a relationship is good is when you really love them. I don't want to hang out with some guy I just like."

In February of last year, rumors began to spread that Meester was dating Adam Brody, the former "O.C." actor; by November, news that they were engaged began to work its way around to all the magazines, and in December they were spotted kissing at an airport. The low-key couple had never commented publicly on their relationship, so the media ran wild with it. Most recently, they were seen vacationing at Mexico's St. Regis Punta Mita Resort just before Valentine's Day.
