LeAnn Rimes: Rehab Is Not For An Eating Disorder

Country singer LeAnn Rimes has voluntarily entered a 30-day treatment program to “learn and develop coping mechanisms”, according to her publicist, Marcel Pariseau. Her reps are stressing that it is not rehabilitation for a drug problem or an eating disorder.

Although the star has been fairly quiet about the reason for her need to get away for a while, it’s been reported that she filed a lawsuit earlier this week against two women for secretly taping a phone conversation she had with them and posting excerpts of the recording online in an apparent effort to throw a negative light on her. The women, Kimberly and Lexi Smiley, are accused by LeAnn of cyber-bullying on behalf of their friend Brandi Glanville, one of the stars of “The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills” and the ex-wife of LeAnn’s husband, Eddie Cibrian. LeAnn and Eddie met on the set of the film “Northern Lights” while he was still married to Glanville; LeAnn was married at the time, as well. The two developed a relationship which ultimately dissolved both marriages, and since then she has been the target of quite a bit of animosity from friends and supporters of Glanville.

The recordings were posted to gossip websites like Celebitchy.com, and Rimes says in the suit that they were deliberately cut up and used out of context in an effort to put her in a negative light, and that they have “harmed her reputation and personal relationships and have caused her emotional distress.”

“This is just a time for me to emotionally check out for a second and take care of myself and come back in 30 days as the best 30-year-old woman I can be,” she says. “All the things in my life will be there when I get out, but you know what? I’m hoping they’re not going to affect me as much. I’ll have the tools to know how to deal with them.”
