Lady Gaga, always the social media/internet trendsetter, has decided to embrace the digital culture in a whole new way. Today, Mother Monster announced that her next album, “Artpop,” is going to be released in app form.
iPhone and iPad apps, to be specific (sorry Androids). It will also be available as a web application.
Gaga says that the album will be a “multimedia experience” that will contain chats, music videos for every song, bonus music, games, fashion, magazines, and other interactive content.
Lady Gaga used the big album news to promote her social network Little Monsters, which was launched in beta back in January. The site requires membership to navigate, so apart from making a bid announcement this was a pretty good way to get people to sign up for the social network.
“You inspired me to create something that communicated with images, because YOU do. YOU communicate with me and each other with .gifs and pictures, and artwork, graphics ALL DAY 24/7. YOU’RE an ARTPOP generation. I’m hoping you will all continue to grow together and stay connected through your creativity. Much love, Gaga. P.S. (Start asking for iPADS FOR XMAS!!),” she said in a post.
Everything is set to launch in the Spring on 2013. If you’re a little more traditional when it comes to how you get your new music, don’t fret. “Artpop” will also come in physical and regular digital formats.
