Saturday Night Live and “Bridesmaids” star Kristen Wiig got quite a send-off this weekend as she said goodbye to her castmates after seven seasons.
Wiig has been a driving force behind the sketch comedy show for several years now, creating memorable characters with ease (Target lady, anyone?) and giving laughter to a show which hasn’t really been that funny in recent years. As she moves on to make more movies, rumor has it that Andy Sandberg and Jason Sudeikis will also be leaving, which makes me wonder how the remaining–and somewhat lackluster–cast will do without them.
This past weekend’s episode ended on a sadly funny/sweet note, as the cast saw Wiig off with a series of dances set to Rolling Stones songs as Mick Jagger looked on (he played a small role in the last sketch of the evening) and Wiig struggled to keep her composure as her friends said their goodbyes.
According to IMDB, Wiig has six films in production right now, so she’ll have no shortage of work in the coming days. Look for her next in the movie “Imogene“, with Matt Dillon and Annette Bening.
