Komen's Karen Handel Resigns: Twitter Reactions

The goodwill PR machine at Susan G. Komen for the Cure is working to curry favor back towards the organization after last week's media nightmare. On today's agenda: accepting SGK Vice President Karen Handel's resignation.

Handel was at the center of last week's storm of outrage about Komen's controversial decision to pull funding from Planned Parenthood. Supporters of Planned Parenthood spent three days livid with rage, mostly directly at Handel's political past as a vocal opponent of Planned Parenthood. Then, the decision to withdraw funding was reversed. People rejoiced, and it was good. Still, in order to regain their trust, the millions of supporters scorned by Komen's now-reversed decision wanted more: the ouster of Handel, who was largely viewed as the architect of Komen's plan to dump Planned Parenthood.

Today that wish was granted, most likely in an effort to ameliorate the legions of supporters and donors that have supported Komen over the years. As Twitter has been the arena largely in which this political saga has taken place, many people gladly accepted Handel's resignation letter:
