Kim Kardashian–one of the most famous non-famous people in our history–found herself on the wrong side of the tabloid pages earlier this year when she gained 50 pounds during her pregnancy. The weight gain–like anything else a celebrity does–was highly scrutinized and the reality star faced quite a bit of negative attention about it, something she found hard to take. Therefore, that booty-selfie she posted on Instagram not long ago was her way of flipping off everyone who talked smack about her.
“I was trying on a bathing suit, and I actually just sent that to my boyfriend, my fiancé, and I was like, ‘Babe, can I post this up? This is my big, like, middle finger to the world on everyone that called me fat,'” Kardashian told Jay Leno during her recent appearance on “The Tonight Show”. “It really hurt my soul, like it changed how I am in the public a little bit. I was gaining weight because I was pregnant, and it was just really hard to read all these stories and hear all these nasty things.”
Kardashian says she tried the Atkins diet and that it really worked for her. An Atkins rep says the reality star wanted to find a healthy way to lose the weight while she was nursing her daughter, North.
“She is eating lots of lean proteins, healthy fats like nuts and avocado, carbs, fruits, veggies and cheese,” the rep said. “She wanted to be a healthy, nursing mom and not toxify her milk with her diet or lose weight too quickly. She’s been doing Atkins since her doctor approved it at the end of June.”
Kardashian and new fiance, rapper Kanye West, haven’t announced their plans yet for the wedding and she says they are taking their time.
“We’re hoping for next summer,” Kardashian said. “We’re a little busy. I’m enjoying just being engaged, and I think were gonna get through [his ‘Yeezus’] tour and really talk about when and where.”
