You see the glitz, glamour and all of the lights always surrounded by R&B singer Kelly Rowland. The prestigious music awards, record-breaking music sales, and international tours are all the makings of the successful entertainer.

However, like most celebrities, what you don't see is the intimate happenings that occur behind closed doors in her personal life. Rowland's strained relationship with her father is definitely one of those things you don't see or hear about – until now.

In recent news, Rowland's father, Christopher Lovett, came forth stating his desire to rekindle the lost relationship between he and his daughter. Lovett, 67, admitted that it's been over 20 years since he last saw his daughter in person. But, he 'prays' she decides to be apart of his life.

As a recovering alcoholic, Lovett also admitted that he and the singer's mother, Doris Rowland Garrison, had a tumultuous relationship. As a result of his challenging bouts with alcoholism, abuse and his explosive temperament, Garrison ended up separating from him, taking their daughter with her.

Now, Lovett would like to make amends 'before it's too late.' RadarOnline reports that in his latest interview with Star Magazine, he opened up to share his personal conviction with the world. “So many previous years have passed and I'm getting old. I just pray she comes back into my life before it's too late,” he said. “I couldn’t control it. I hoped I could make it up to her. But I’m still waiting for that day,” admitted Lovett.

Her estranged father also told Star that he has made several attempts to reach the “Survivor” singer, but to no avail. “Whenever [Destiny's Child] was on the cover of a magazine, I would call and beg them to tell her I was looking for her,” he said. However, according to, the lack of communication could be a mere misunderstanding, as opposed to the singer indirectly stating disapproval.

Back in 2011, the singer spoke with Grazia Magazine. In a rare moment, the Grammy award-winning singer briefly reflected on her childhood. When asked about the estranged relationship with her father and whether she'd like to communicate with him, Rowland said, “I do have a desire to speak to him. But I have to be ready when I make that decision, and I don’t want to hurry myself. I've been without him for more than 20 years.”

Maybe its a matter of time,or maybe she still isn't ready. However, her statement does shed light on a glint hope. All may not be lost with this father-daughter relationship. Rowland's fans will surely hope for the best.
