In an interview with TMZ on the street, comedian Katt Williams appears sober and solemn. He claims that Suge Knight was not the intended target of the shooting that happened at Chris Brown’s pre-VMAs bash at 1OAK nightclub in Los Angeles last Sunday. Williams claimed that he was with Knight at the party when the Death Row Records founder was reportedly shot six times.
Williams was asked by TMZ if he knew who shot Knight, and he replied, “I’m pretty sure Suge knows who shot Suge.” He said that Knight had taken the bullet for the real target of the shooting, although he stopped short of identifying the intended target for reporters.
“Now if you’re an idiot you can believe this was about Suge Knight … Suge Knight has been accessible every day of his life for 20 years. We know who it was aimed at. We know whose life he saved. And we know why they won’t talk about it,” Williams said.
He also maintained that the shooting was not gang-related, citing the fact that no shots were fired back at the perpetrators by supposed gang members. “If it was gang-related then why didn’t it happen thoroughly? You see there’s parts of this story that just don’t seem to make sense. You’re saying it was gang-related. So, that means somebody’s gang was shooting at somebody’s gang and somebody’s gang didn’t shoot back. That’s your story? That’s not really how gang stuff works, is it?”
He also expressed skepticism for the police’s ability to find the shooters in a long rant about “nobody” having shot Martin Luther King, Jr. and Malcolm X, likening this to “nobody” shooting Knight.

Knight recently underwent surgery at Cedars-Sinai Hospital for his injuries and is currently recovering. His family released a statement asking for privacy, saying, “Suge is currently resting and has lost a lot of blood, he’s human. He’s done a lot of things for the community and the culture as a whole so we ask that you respect that.”
