I can’t help but think of Princess Diana when I look at Kate Middleton, mostly because–much like Prince William’s mother–Middleton is the object of fascination and speculation for so many. People are always eager to know what she’s wearing, who she was seen with, where she was. Middleton was groomed for her role in the royal family, so it’s likely she’s been trained on how to deal with such public scrutiny; hopefully it will serve her well in the years to come, because the attention sure isn’t going away any time soon.
The Duchess was photographed attending a posh dinner with husband Prince William in London on Tuesday, and her ankle-length white gown has been the topic of celebrity buzz ever since. The dress–designed by Roland Mouret–was long sleeved and covered her collarbone, but was given a touch of sass with a long slit in the front, which showed quite a bit of her toned legs. The question on everyone’s minds, therefore, is whether or not the dress was appropriate for Middleton, given her public stature, or if she should be allowed to wear trendy young frocks like everyone else her age.
