Justin Bieber is no stranger to paparazzi chasing him, and sometimes the urge to drive dangerous speeds is too hard to resist when you’re being chased by a gaggle of photographers and your car is a lovely chrome Fisker Karma.
Apparently that’s just what happened earlier today in L.A., when Bieber was pulled over after a high-speed chase which caused a city councilman to do a double-take after the singer raced by him, followed by a pack of out-of-control paparazzi who thought nothing of driving on the shoulder of the freeway in an effort to get their shot.
Dennis Zine said, “Bieber was driving like a maniac. He was weaving in and out of traffic. There was hardly any space between cars as he weaved from lane to lane.”
Bieber was ticketed for driving 80 mph, but shortly after he was let go the photographers resumed their pursuit, causing the singer to call 911. There is currently an investigation into the behavior of those involved.
Rumor has it that Bieber has dumped longtime girlfriend Selena Gomez; at least, that’s what TMZ was reporting earlier this week. It could be that all those headlines have made photographers too greedy to get their shot, going to dangerous lengths to invade the star’s privacy.
Although the couple was seen recently holding hands when they were out and about in L.A., when photographers asked if they were still together Bieber snapped, “What does it look like?” Seems the teenage crooner is a bit touchy on the subject.
Fans are genuinely upset at the speeding news, especially since he had paparazzi chasing him. Photographers have been notoriously invasive and have taken dangerous risks in order to get the perfect picture of the celeb of the day; hopefully L.A. will crack down on their laws regarding the subject; if not for Bieber’s sake, then for the safety of innocent bystanders.
