  • Jennifer Lawrence is an Academy Award-winning actress known for her role as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games series. However, Lawrence recently added “hit song” to her list of accomplishments.

Jennifer Lawrence sang “Hanging Tree” from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, and it looks like a surprise hit for the 24-year-old.

The single debuted at #14 on the U.K. Singles Chart, and it’s currently sitting at #12 on ARIA’s Australian Top 50 Singles Chart.

If that weren’t enough, the song is expected to hit Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart.

No doubt the popularity of the Hunger Games series helped Jennifer Lawrence nab a spot on music charts, but it could be that the actress’s popularity played a role.

If Lawrence manages a surprise number one hit with the song, it will no doubt increase speculation as to whether or not a singing career may be in the future.

Jennifer certainly wouldn’t be the first to try and make it work as an actor/singer.

However, it appears Jennifer Lawrence is in no hurry to put out an album, let alone perform music for large crowds.

Jennifer Lawrence may be a fierce warrior in front of the camera, however she admitted during a Late Show With Dave Letterman appearance that she’s deeply afraid of singing in public.

“I do not like singing in front of other people,” said Lawrence. “I’m like, scarred from my childhood because I have a Southern mother who would just tell me that I was amazing at everything, that I could do everything. But, I can’t.”

She opened up about her embarrassment at singing a Christmas song on stage when she was eight.

David Letterman, of course, encouraged Jennifer Lawrence to get over her phobia by singing with him.

No doubt the popularity of her Hunger Games song may lead others to ask for impromptu performances in the future.

Hopefully, Jennifer Lawrence won’t be too terrified by the requests.
