Jenna-Louise Coleman, the 25-year old actress who will be joining the cast of BBC show Dr. Who during the annual Christmas episode, certainly has fans of the show talking.

Coleman, who first shone in the spotlight in the soap drama Emmerdale, will be a welcome fresh face to the series, which is close to celebrating its 50th anniversary. She will be replacing actress Karen Gillian, who plays Amy Pond, as timelord Matt Smith's companion.

The show's writer, Steven Moffat, doesn't want to give too much away about the new storyline involving Coleman, but says that "Who she’s playing, how the Doctor meets her, and even where he finds her, are all part of one of the biggest mysteries the Time Lord ever encounters. Even by the Doctor’s standards, this isn’t your usual boy meets girl."

He did reveal that Gillian's character would be written out of the show in the fifth episode of this series, during a final, "heartbreaking" encounter with the weeping angels, and that there would be six episodes this year and eight more in 2013.

Coleman has also made headlines this week for being the victim of a Twitter "sex tape" scam.

Fans are looking forward to the new series, and in honor of the change-up The Telegraph did a "Top Ten Dr. Who Assistants" list.
