Jared Fogle, the former Subway spokesperson who pleaded guilty to child pornography and sex charges, was sentenced on Thursday to 15 and a half years in prison.

It was this past August when Jared Fogle agreed to a deal with prosecutors to plead guilty to charges of “child pornography and illicit paid sex with minors.”

Fogle became famous when he lost a huge amount of weight from eating Subway sandwiches. The company then hired him on as their paid spokesperson.

As part of his agreement, Jared Fogle must avoid pornography and get treatment for his sexual disorders. He will forever be listed as a sex offender. U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt also sentenced Jared Fogle to a lifetime of supervision and a $175,000 fine.

“The defendant was obsessed with child pornography and sex with minors,” Pratt said.

Jared Fogle was remanded to the custody of a U.S. Marshall. The judge recommend he go to a federal prison in Littleton, Colorado.

Dr. John Bradford is a forensic psychiatrist who testified on Jared Fogle’s behalf. He claimed Fogle was attracted to older teen girls, 16 or 17 years of age.

Prosecutors reminded him–and the court–that Jared Fogle said via a text message that he wanted prosititues, “the younger, the better.”

Bradford also said Jared Fogle has an alcohol problem, and had a compulsive eating disorder that moved into “hypersexuality” after he lost weight.

“He traded a horrible food addiction for a horrible sex addiction,” said defense attorney Jeremy Margolis.

Lots of people give up food addictions, but they don’t prey on underage girls for sex. Jared Fogle is clearly a sexual deviant. He will soon live a much different life that that to which he is accustomed–locked up in prison.
