Hugh Hefner says he is a friend of Bill Cosby. But lately, being a friend of Bill Cosby is a dicey thing.
Two women that have connections to Hugh Hefner have now come forward with accusations against Cosby of sexual assault. The first was a former Playboy Club employee named P.J.Masten. Masten says that, back in 18979, Cosby gave her a drink. She says she later woke up in a bed with him, naked and bruised. She says she was told to not report it because Cosby was Hefner’s friend.
Hugh Hefner has released a statement about the allegations against Cosby, saying, “Bill Cosby has been a good friend for many years and the mere thought of these allegations is truly saddening. I would never tolerate this kind of behavior, regardless of who was involved.”
The latest Cosby accuser with Hefner ties is Judy Huth. This one strikes closer to home because Huth says her assault happened at Hefner’s home, the Playboy Mansion, in 1974.
While the statute of limitations on both cases has expired, Huth has now filed a civil suit against Cosby for sexual battery. And Huth is coming loaded for bear with famed attorney Gloria Allred. And now Huth’s case has caught the attention of the LAPD, which has opened an investigation into her claims against Cosby.
LAPD detectives from the special victims unit met with Huth and Allred. Officer Jane Kim of the LAPD said in a statement, “The investigation was opened Friday after Judy Huth, who is suing Cosby for sexual battery, met with detectives for 90 minutes.”
Allred says of the LAPD case, “We are going to provide any and all evidence that she has.”
Cosby’s attorneys say that Huth is simply trying to extort money from Cosby, and has already named her price once, then raised it when Cosby’s recent woes caught more media attention. They say she demanded $100,000, but now demands $250,000.
As for Masten, the former Playboy Club employee, she says, “I just want him exposed for the serial druggie rapist that he is. He’s got to be stopped. I don’t care if he’s 77 years old. He’s got to be stopped.”
