It looks like the first episode of the third season of House of Cards has now been written.
Creator Beau Willimon tweeted on Friday:
It's happening, folks. Binge-writing. One down, twelve to go. @HouseofCards @netflix pic.twitter.com/cPE30aqQKp

On Saturday, Willimon held a 30-minute Q&A on Twitter. He didn’t reveal much in the way of details about the third season, but the subject did come up a few times.
When asked how long it would take to finish writing the season, he said, “Typically takes us about 7 or 8 months to write a season. But we start filming before we finish.”
He said they’ll “often go through six or seven major drafts” and continue to tweak them during rehearsals.
Asked about how many season there will be, he said they’ll simply stop when they reach the natural conclusion.
Filming will begin in “several months,” he said, adding, “knockknock.”
