Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has finally joined Twitter, and she’s done it in a pretty awesome way.
“Wife, mom, lawyer, women & kids advocate, FLOAR, FLOTUS, US Senator, SecState, author, dog owner, hair icon, pantsuit aficionado, glass ceiling cracker, TBD…” says her Twitter bio.
In her first tweet as a verified Twitter user, Clinton thanks the creators of the popular “Texts from Hillary” Tumblr. “I’ll take it from here,” she says:
Thanks for the inspiration @asmith83 & @sllambe – I’ll take it from here… #tweetsfromhillary

In just an hour, Clinton has already amassed nearly 100,000 followers – and the count is rising by a few thousand every few minutes. At this rate she’ll surpass her husband, who just joined Twitter back in April and currently sports over 721,000 followers.
She has only followed four users – Bill, Chelsea, the Clinton Foundation, and the Clinton Global Initiative.
It’s a good thing that Hillary joined the ranks of the Twitter elite. It’l be impossible to stage a run at the White House in 2016 without a strong social media presence. Not that she’s considering that or anything.
