It’s no secret that Heidi Montag and her long-time boyfriend, Spencer Pratt are broke. They openly admitted that they rolled through $10 million.

“We were immature and we got caught up,” Spencer confessed to In Touch magazine. “Every time we’d go out to eat, we’d order $4,000 bottles of wine. Heidi was going to the mall and dropping $20,000 to $30,000 a day. We thought we were Jay Z and Beyoncé,” admits Spencer.

In addition to their luxurious lifestyle, sources say that the real reason the money is gone was their fear of the Mayan Apocalypse. Apparently the couple got caught up in the whole Mayan Apocalypse ordeal, and spent all of their money because they thought the world was going to end on December 21, 2012.

Since the world didn’t come to an end and now the couple has no money, Montag says that she is much happier with her more frugal spending habits. “Now I can spend like $100 at Victoria’s Secret. I feel like a different person,” she said.

When Montag was asked if she had any regrets about appearing on the popular MTV television show, The Hills, she said she didn’t regret it, calling it a “great experience”, but was glad that it was over. “I didn’t realize people would only know me as that character. It was just a persona I played up to make a paycheck,” she explains. “The show took a toll on my soul. I’m thankful not to have fake fights anymore!”
