Google is now putting business labels for places that users have rated using Google Places on maps. Users can see what they rated a place for future reference.
Google will also display additional places it thinks youâll like through personalized recommendations based on the places and ratings youâve already shared.
âSince the My Places tab was released earlier this summer, youâve been able to view all the places youâve rated in one manageable list,â says software engineer Myles Jordan on the Google Lat Long Blog. âThis list is now being used to personalize your view of Google Maps, enabling you to visualize all the various places youâve visited, loved, loathed, and might want to check out right on the map.â
This new offering is a complement to that.
âWhereas old paper road maps only became âpersonalizedâ when you accidentally folded them the wrong way, spilled a drink on them while driving or physically got out a highlighter to circle locations of interest, we hope this simple and lightweight way of emphasizing the places youâve shared your opinions about makes Google Maps even more personal, relevant and helpful,â says Jordan.
The new features are available from the desktop and Google Maps for Android.
