Google announced the launch of a new update for Google Maps For Android, which makes transit information more useful.
For one, the Transit Lines layer now lets you select a specific mode of public transportation to display on the map, while hiding the other modes. This will allow for a much cleaner look at the route.
Google says it now has over a million public transit stops worldwide.
The layout of station pages has also received a refresh to show you departure times, lines serving the station and the distance to nearby stations:
Google has also updated region highlighting, My Places and Location History displays in the app. When you search for a city or postal code, the borders of the region are highlighted. Tabs have been added under My Places, from which you can access various info like saved maps, starred places and custom maps.
With Location History enabled, you can browse places you’ve been to on a daily basis.
