Google continues to tweak Google Maps to make it more useful for things beyond simply finding locations and directions.
The latest features are the addition of real-time weather and “quick facts” about places you search for. Here’s a look at both:
These features are specifically for Android for the time being. Google announced them in a Google+ post here (via Search Engine Roundtable).
I would imagine the features will come to iOS eventually. Google will want to give users any reason to use its Maps products on iPhones now that Apple has switched to its own product as the featured Maps application (even if it shot itself in the foot initially).
Also new to the Android app is automatic re-routing for road closures.
