Google’s public liaison of search, Danny Sullivan, has announced via Twitter the company is rolling out its January 2020 Core Update today.
Google Core Updates are changes to the main search algorithm the company uses to return relevant and useful search results. Past updates have resulted in some sites ranking higher or lower than they had previously. Webmasters the world over tend to approach Core Updates with baited breath, waiting to see how their sites are impacted.
Sullivan recommends webmasters check out Google’s official blog post on what to expect from Core Updates in preparation. As the company has highlighted for years, one of the main things companies should focus on is strong content. Google’s algorithms consistently reward quality content over attempts to game the system.
We will post updates once the impacts of this update become more clear.
