Google announced in a Google+ post that Hangouts on Air broadcasts will now default to full screen when there is only one participant visible in the broadcast.

Looking for a full screen option to your Hangout On Air broadcast? This much anticipated feature is now available by default when only one participant is visible in your broadcast.

If your HOA has multiple participants, you can still achieve full screen by utilizing the Cameraman app to put everyone but the main speaker “backstage.”

Before the holiday break, Google announced a slew of new Google+ features. One of those was that you now only need about 150 KB of bandwidth to use in a Hangout, and for Hangouts on Air, Google will now automatically hide the filmstrip of faces, and expand the video to fill the entire feed when you’re the only on participating. I guess it’s official now.

In other Google+ Hangouts news, James Cameron will be joining a number of scientists and explorers (including Jane Goodall and Robert Ballard) in a hangout this Sunday, answering user submitted questions.
