Google showed off a new version of Google Analytics at a conference in San Francisco today. While it’s not widely available yet, Google has made it available to a small group of users for testing.
The company has posted a beta sign-up page for those who want to be considered for the testing.
“Our goals for the new version are to make it easier and faster to get to the data you want and to enhance the Google Analytics platform to bring you major new functionality,” says Trevor Claiborne of Google’s Analytics Team. “Many of the changes in the new version are the result of your feedback. For example, you can now view multiple advanced segments without needing to also use All Visits. You’ll find some of the other most requested features like multiple dashboards in the new version as well.”
“Using the new version won’t change how Google Analytics reports your website traffic, and you can continue to use the current version while testing the new Analytics,” adds Claiborne.
The new version does have an updated look and feel. Search Engine Land has some screenshots of what the new interface looks like. The user interface is in line with the new navigation bar Google has been rolling out across its products.
There are also new, more feature-rich dashboards, new links for specific reports, and new names for reports.
Google says it will be starting a series of blog posts on its Analytics blog, outlining the new features, so you’ll want to keep an eye out there, if you’re a GA user.
If you’re not a user of Google Analytics or at least some web analytics solution, you better consider looking into it, especially if you’re looking to diversify your traffic sources.
