Gina Carano has had her name bandied about in connection with a UFC fight against bantamweight champ Rhonda Rousey, but her star is rising in Hollywood, as well, and according to UFC President Dana White, she may not be getting back into the ring anytime soon.
“(Carano) is the hardest human being we’ve ever dealt with. The problem is she allows herself to be handled by these Hollywood idiots. In dealing with her people, I don’t know if it can be done,” White said earlier this year of the match he’s been trying to pull together.
Carano has reportedly signed on to play a promoter in the upcoming Kickboxer remake, which also stars Jean-Claude Van Damme and WWE star David Bautista. She’ll play a fight promoter, a role that went to a man in the original film.
“It will be fun to watch Gina as the sneaky and dangerous temptress, a boa constrictor of this fighting jungle,” said producer Tim Field.
It’s certainly not the first time a MMA fighter has made a move to the silver screen; Rousey herself did it with The Expendables 3 earlier this year. Carano, meanwhile, has had roles in Fast & Furious 6, Haywire, and In The Blood, which she worked on with Kickboxer director John Stockwell.
