Foursquare has just released v5.3.5 of their iOS app and it brings some changes to check-ins, among other minor tweaks.
First off, the check-in screen is cleaner and has reduced some unnecessary clutter. Instead of displaying “check-in” up top, the app now displays the place name. You knew you were checking-in already, right? There’s now a map instead of an address, which is also more useful if you’re already checking-in.
Functionality aside, the new check-in screen just looks better (it’s darker and more sleek). Of course, Foursquare also touts that it’s faster.
The app also brings recently opened places alerts to the main feed. Foursquare first unveiled this sorting category within the explore tab last month.
Foursquare mentions that version 5.3.5 is the first palindromic version since 3.0.3. With that being said, here’s the enjoyable way Foursquare announced what’s new on the app:
Are we not drawn onward to new era?
- A man, a plan, a canal, Panama! • Look out for check-in highlights under your friends’ check-ins.
- Go hang a salami; I’m a lasagna hog! • Try some recently opened places nearby.
- Racecar! • Enjoy speedier check-ins, plus a shiny new check-in screen.
- So many dynamos! • Search for ‘peppermint’ or ‘cider’ for some holiday treats!
You can grab it today from iTunes. Unfortunately, the Android update has let to drop.
