Billionaires are becoming more and more common, as evidenced by the latest newbie coming on the scene, Facebook’s founder, Mark Zuckerberg, who fit nicely into Forbes list at #21- boasting a net worth of $28.5 billion.

The top man on the list, Bill Gates, is not just the nation’s richest man but richest in the world–worth a cool $76 billion. Gates made his green in the computer industry–namely Microsoft, and is consistently at the top of the list of the worlds richest people.

Second is Warren Buffet with a net worth: $58.2 billion. Buffet is an American business man, investor, and philanthropist who people turn to for investment advice, which is how he made his billions. He is the chairman, CEO, and largest shareholder of Berkshire Hathaway.

Third is Larry Ellison – worth $48 billion, making his killing in the computer industry at Oracle. Ellison has been the CEO of Oracle Corporation since founding the company 1977.

Fourth are The Koch brothers, Charles and David Koch, who are both worth $40 billion each. These brothers are the controversial pair that made their wealth, some think, in an unsavory manner. They are diversified investors.

Fifth is Sheldon Gary Adelson who is worth $38 billion. He is an American business magnate, and the chairman and CEO of the Las Vegas Sands Corporation, the parent company of Venetian Macao Limited. He has been a popular media attraction after he donated somewhere around $150 million dollars to get Obama out of office – but has made more cash since Obama has been president.

Sixth is Christy Walton & family, worth $36.7 billion – and known as the richest woman in the U.S. She is related to the founder of Wal-Mart, Sam Walton, and inherited most of her money from her deceased husband, John Walton, a Green Beret who died in service – and his investment in First Solar.

Seventh: Jim Walton, sitting at $34.7 billion and his fortune came from being the youngest son to the Wal-Mart king, Sam Walton.

Eighth: Alice Walton, worth $34.3 billion, daughter of Sam Walton – Wal-Mart.

Ninth: Robson Walton, worth $34.2 billion, son of Sam Walton of the Wal-Mart fortune.

Tenth: Michael Bloomberg. net worth $33 billion. Bloomberg was New York’s Mayor from 2002 – 2013 and made his fortune as an American business magnate, politician, and philanthropist. The source of his wealth is the company he created, Bloomberg LP.
