  • If you have logged onto your Facebook account within the past few days, I am sure that you have encountered at least one of your friends who have posted a “Look Back” video as one of their status updates. These videos are going viral, and currently, it’s hard to escape looking at the ones from your closest friends to see if you are included within them.

If you are unsure of what I am talking about, you probably have seen “Here’s my Facebook movie. Find yours at https://facebook.com/lookback/ #FacebookIs10” appear from one of your friends. These are personalized videos showing the users’ top posts and pictures that have received the most amount of likes since the existence of their Facebook account. According to The Orlando Sentinel, Facebook reports that it has not tallied how many actual videos have been created; however, the social networking company did state that “hundreds of millions of movies were rendered and have been rolling out since yesterday (Tuesday).”

In a statement released by the well-known social networking site, it was stated that the “Look Back” video feature has been added as a way of the company saying “thank you” to its users as the site celebrates its 10th birthday:

“This is a small gesture to thank the over one billion people who are on Facebook by providing a unique way to look back at some of their biggest moments.”

Unfortunately, this feature is only available to users that have been members on the social networking site for quite some time. New and recently registered users will not be able to see a personalized movie, due to Facebook not having enough information to fully render the personalized video with. The Orlando Sentinel also states that the “Look Back” videos are only available in the following languages: English, Spanish, Italian, German, French, Turkish, Indonesian and Brazilian Portuguese.

This special feature from Facebook will not be around forever. The Orlando Sentinel reports that the “Look Back” video creation feature will only be available for one month. If you want to save your own personalized “Look Back” video, you will need to share it on your Facebook timeline as a status update.
