Facebook for iOS Gets Faster, Now Lets Users Choose a Photo Album When Uploading

iOS users who felt left out in the cold after Facebook announced that huge update for the Android app can now take comfort in the fact that the company hasn’t forgotten about them. In fact, Facebook gave them a speed boost as well.

According to Facebook, the new version 5.3 of the iOS app features a “completely rebuilt Timeline” that opens faster. Users should be pretty excited about this, as the Timeline has always been one of the slower parts of the app – even after Facebook launched the huge iOS rebuild back in August.

And it’s not just the Timeline. Facebook says that the news feed now loads more quickly, which is impressive considering the news feed was already pretty speedy.

Other than speed, version 5.3 also brings a feature that should have already been available (in fact it is on Android) – album designation when uploading photos. Starting today, you can finally choose which album you want to store your newly uploaded photos in, instead of letting them all pile up in “mobile uploads.”

This update for Facebook for iOS is not as significant as the big update for Facebook for Android. With that update, Facebook finally gave Android users what they gave iOS users back in August – an app the was rebuilt from the ground up to focus on one thing: speed.

You can grab the update right now over at the App Store.
