Vringo, Inc. a provider of software platforms for mobile social and video applications, announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Facebook, Inc., the world’s leading online social network, relating to the use of Vringo’s Facetones mark and domain name.

Facetones lets you enjoy your friends’ latest Facebook photos whenever they call you or you call them. The app is available for iOS and Android phones and has been downloaded over 1 million times. On Android and Symbian the pictures are transformed into a video mashup while on iPhone the pictures are fully integrated into the device’s native display. On Android you’ll see your friends photos also when they text you.

There had been a possibility for a dispute between Vringo and Facebook over the trademark and domain name “Facetones”.

By entering into the agreement, the parties’ potential dispute has been favorably resolved to the satisfaction of both parties. The agreement clarifies Vringo’s permitted use of the Facetonesā„¢ mark and domain name.
