Today Facebook announced an update to the Developer App, which it says will make it easier for developers to manage all of their basic app settings from one place.

“The streamlined UI more clearly shows the different app integrations (Web, App on Facebook, Mobile and Devices, Page Tab) and walks you through the fields needed to get started,” says Facebook’s Alan McConnell.

There’s a new left-menu, which shows settings, roles and credits. Settings includes sub-menus for Basic and Advanced. “The goal of the Basic page is to give you one place to configure important settings and be a summary page for your app,” says McConnell. “The settings listed on this page are the set of fields needed for you to quickly get started building a simple ‘Hello World’ app on Facebook Platform.”

He explains more about the details of the Basic setting here.

“The Advanced page contains the rest of the settings that are applicable to your app. The page has five sections: authentication, migrations, security, advanced canvas settings (visible only to Apps on Facebook), and contact info,” he says. “The Roles and Credits pages remain the same.”

This is just the latest in a slew of developer announcements made by Facebook over the last few weeks. This week, they put up social design guidelines. Last week, they launched some updates to improve games and redesigned the canvas page. They also launched Insights for Credits.
