During a panel at the Facebook Marketing Conference on Wednesday, the company revealed that it will soon give page owners new options in assigning page admins different levels of access.
Product Manager Jeff Kanter stated that Facebook pages will come to offer five levels of administrative access – full access, publishing-only access and insights access were the levels mentioned. Kanter made no comment on the other two.
There is speculation that the new feature might include access dealing with messages only. When a user updates to a Facebook branded timeline, pages will include message tabs that allow visitor to email a page. This would be good for customers and service representatives to respond to inquiries, when a page owner doesn’t neccesarily want to give a fan or a customer access to page insights or be able to make public wall posts. These sort of features have been around for a while, via third-party moderation and analytics tools, but these services aren’t free.
Kanter added that Facebook hopes to launch the new feature by the end of March.
The release of the new features is likely to correlate with Facebook’s launch of its Timeline for Brands.
