Eva Longoria gushed about her best friend Victoria Beckham recently and insisted–despite photographic evidence to the contrary–that Beckham smiles a lot and is actually a really funny lady.

Longoria said during an interview with Loose Women that she and Beckham met several years ago through their husbands and have since become very close.

“We had met because our husbands were both sports people back in the day and we just remained very close friends. She’s an amazing woman, an amazing mum, an amazing business woman and an amazing wife and she’s really funny. She smiles and laughs a lot…and she makes me laugh more importantly,” Longoria said.

Eva Longoria stays busy with acting projects–her current project is Telenovela, set to air soon–but she’s also gotten very political and involved in behind-the-scenes film work, launching her own production company as well as a philanthropic organization, The Eva Longoria Foundation. The group helps Latinas with education and entrepreneurship opportunities, and has earned the actress quite a bit of praise from others in Hollywood.

“Everything that Eva is doing for the Latin community is absolutely phenomenal,” said Jane The Virgin actress Gina Rodriguez.

Longoria is currently in a relationship, but she battled her way through a tough divorce from NBA star Tony Parker. Parker recently opened up about the split, saying it was extraordinarily painful.

“It’s not easy to leave a relationship, because when I get involved in something, I want to do it well,” Parker said.

Eva Longoria reportedly said in an interview that the split came after she found dozens of text messages on Parker’s phone from another woman, and Parker says that having his life exposed because of his and Longoria’s fame was too much to handle.

“The exposure, I could not control. This is the world we live in today – everything is on the Internet and social network sites. I never paid attention to what people said. Hollywood is another world, on another level.”
