When Emily Blunt, star of The Devil Wears Prada, and John Krasinski, Jim on NBC’s The Office, married in the summer of 2010, one could have predicted that the internet would potentially explode due to fan boys and girls of both freaking out about Hollywood’s newest and cutest couple. Considering all of the celebrity gossip and news that has surrounded the couple since that date, that prediction would have been correct.
The latest news to come from the Blunsinski (Is that a thing?) camp concerns the couple’s yet-to-be-born baby. According to TMZ, Blunt recently went on a shopping spree for her expectant baby girl and spent over $35,000 on merchandise, which TMZ makes sure to point out is an amount that surpasses the poverty level for a family of 6. The list of items purchased on said shopping spree is long and varied, ranging from a $6,780 crib to a $4,880 changing table, and all the way to a $40 swaddle and a $50 Boppy pillow for breastfeeding (one should be surprised that there hasn’t been an explosion concerning the fact that Blunt plans to breastfeed her daughter).
The extravagant shopping spree is potentially surprising considering the star-studded baby shower Blunt held for the baby in December, which included the likes of Jennifer Aniston and Kristen Bell.
While the focus of Blunt’s pregnancy at the moment is on her apparently spending a ridiculous amount of money on her unborn child (despite the fact that anyone with that amount of money would do the same), perhaps more focus should be placed upon her relationship with husband John Krasinski.
The couple is arguably one of the cutest in Hollywood, yet their relationship is much more than looks. John Krasinski’s character on The Office, Jim, spends much time fawning over his love interest and show wife, Pam (played by Jenna Fischer). Krasinski’s character is often portrayed as goofy yet completely enamored, and not-surprisingly, Krasinski is very similar in real life.
In a recent Twitter exchange, Krasinski expressed his joy about the upcoming birth of his first child:
“@MorgannElainee: @johnkrasinski you're going to be a daddy soon! Yay!!” Holy crap I AM??? Aaaaaagh!!! Haha, cannot WAIT!!!

This childish exuberance has also been shown in his relationship with Blunt. In speaking about his first time meeting his now wife, Krasinski stated, “It was one of those things where I wasn’t really looking for a relationship and I was thinking I’m going to take my time in L.A. Then I met her and I was so nervous. I was like, ‘Oh god, I think I’m going to fall in love with her.’ As I shook her hand I went, ‘I like you.'”
Krasinski’s adoration did not end there. When the couple first appeared on the red carpet together, Krasinski thought, “You’re like, ‘Boy, I wonder who she’s going to date starting tomorrow… because it sure as sh*t ain’t going to be me.'”
Fortunately for Krasinski, this infatuation is not a one way street. Speaking to Manhattan magazine last year concerning her marriage, Blunt stated, “This is what I find difficult about talking about my marriage: It’s hard to sum up something that’s so vital and means everything to you in a sound bite. Do you know what I mean? All I can say is that it’s an effing blast. It’s just great, and I’m so happy.”
So who cares if Blunt spent $35,000 on her future daughter? It’s obvious from her relationship with Krasinski that this luxurious shopping spree is not meant to replace her love for her daughter, but rather augment it.
