    Dre, born Andre Romelle Young, made his 2014 millions through the sale of his bass-heavy Beats Electronics line of headphones and speakers to Apple Inc. for roughly $3 billion in May.

    Rock band The Eagles came in at third place, after pulling in $100 million during their latest world tour. Bon Jovi came in at fourth on the list with $82 million, followed by Bruce Springsteen with $81 million.

    Pop confection Justin Bieber made $80 million, British boy band One Direction netted $75 million, DJ Calvin Harris saw $66 million and “Roar” singer Katy Perry made $40 million.

    Twerking sensation Miley Cyrus earned $36 million, and Lady Gaga pulled in $33 million.

    Dre, the CEO of Aftermath Entertainment, has been associated with Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, Xzibit, The Game, and Kendrick Lamar, and has been recognized as the creator of the West Coast G-Funk sound.

    Dr. Dre co-founded Beats Electronics with Interscope-Geffen-A&M Records CEO Jimmy Iovine in 2006. The rapper took to Youtube with Tyrese Gibson after selling his brand to Apple, declaring himself hip hop’s first billionaire:

    Dre got his start as a member of the influential gangster rap group N.W.A, which featured Eazy-E, Ice Cube, MC Ren and DJ Yella, and shot to superstardom after his 1992 solo album “The Chronic.”
