David Hasselhoff won’t go away. The perennial hanger-on has now been picked up to guest star in that annual institution for stars with waning careers: Sharknado.
David Hasselhoff has been tapped to play Ian Ziering’s father in Sharkndo 3. David Hasselhoff will play Gilbert Shepard, father to Fin Shepard.
Tara Reid is also back to reprise her role as April. Other confirmed cast include Bo Derek as April’s mother, Jerry Springer as a manic tourist, NSYNC’s Chris Kirkpatrick as a pool lifeguard, and Chris Jericho as a roller-coaster ride operator.
There has also been a lot of buzz about lately over another surprising guest in Sharknado 3. Mark Cuban will star as President of the United States.
“I’m doing it,” Cuban told Fox Sports recently. “Why not? It’ll be fun.”
But it’s the announcement of Ann Coulter as VP that raised eyebrows.
It’s pretty hard to believe that the Sharknado franchise has made it this far. io9 asked Thunder Levin, the writer of Sharknado, back in 2013:
Has the shark disaster movie run its course, or are we just ramping up?
Levin replied:
“It’s called Sharknado. I think the shark genre has reached its natural and logical conclusion.”
But, no. The first film saw Tara Reid and Ian Ziering save Los Angeles. The second had them saving New York. Now they mess for the third movie starts in Washington, DC and moves south to Florida.
Anthony C. Ferrante, who has directed all the Sharknado installments, will return to direct the newest one.
David Hasselhoff hinted at his casting in Sharknado 3 with this tweet:
