Dakota Fanning won’t be revealing what she considers her dream role. The 20-year-old actress believes that if she shares it with the world, the admission could actually lower the chances of it ever coming to fruition.
According to Cover Media, when asked if she had an ideal dream role, Fanning admitted that she does have one role in particular that holds great value to her, but she refuses to share the details.
“I have one, but I’ve never told anyone. I think I’m going to hold on to it for a little bit longer. It is one of those things that I feel like if I say it, it will never come true. So, I do have one, but I also think that sometimes your mind can’t even dream up the dream role. Do you know what I mean?” Fanning told Refinery32.
“There are so many different stories and characters. You never know what you are going to do. I’ve always wanted to do a movie that was a period piece, in Victorian dress. I got to do that. It was so exciting. You really never know.”
At the age of seven, Fanning made an impressive film debut alongside Sean Penn in the 2001 drama film, I Am Sam. The role earned Fanning a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination, which contributed to her later landing feature roles in big productions like the 2004 thriller film Man on Fire with Denzel Washington and The Twilight Saga film series.
Fanning’s latest film release Night Moves has also garnered a lot of attention. The actress portrays a woman named Dena, a radical high society environmentalist, who becomes embroiled in a political battle after the explosion of a hydroelectric dam. When asked if she is anything like the radical Dena when the cameras are off, she opted to share the differences between her and her self-proclaimed alter ego.
“I don’t think so. I think that I’m really happy with my life. I feel like I’m doing good things and I think that she probably thought that she could do something better, if, you know, she did something big and different,” she explained. “I don’t know. It is all sort of situational,” she added.
“You don’t know until it’s put in front of you and you make that decision to not say really bold things. Maybe one day, you will have to take it back and wonder why you said that. I try to stay away from saying never. You never know what you are going to do.”
The busy actress is definitely happy with her life and her career. She reportedly has two films – Every Secret Thing and Franny – scheduled to be released later this year, with another film titled Brain on Fire set to be released sometime in 2015.
