Courteney Cox is setting the record straight. The rumors circulating about a possible Friends reunion are not true.

On Monday, April 21, the 49-year-old actress appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman.

When the romantic-comedy sitcom became the topic of discussion, Letterman mentioned the rumors, and asked Cox about the possibility of a reunion segment. The Dirt actress embraced the moment as an opportunity to put the countless rumors to rest.

“It’s not gonna happen,” Cox said. She went on to quip about how difficult it is to just have all of her former cohorts in the same room for dinner. So realistically, a reunion is quite far-fetched.

“There’s six friends and I have been trying to put together a cast dinner for 10 years,” Cox told Letterman. “It doesn’t happen. I mean, I can get the girls to come, maybe Matthew Perry. Matt LeBlanc canceled last time right at the last minute, [David] Schwimmer lives [in New York City], so it’s just not going to happen.”

If fans had any hopes of a Friends reunion, it’s quite obvious that won’t be happening now. However, Cox’s comments are nothing new. Last April, Friends c0-creator Marta Kaufman offered a blunt response to the rumors, saying the exact same thing in a statement for E! News.

“I’m going to clear this up — it’s not happening,” Kauffman told the publication during a brief interview on the red carpet of the Lifetime TV movie Call Me Crazy. “‘Friends’ was about that time in your life when your friends are your family and once you have a family, there’s no need anymore.”

Although more than 20 million Friends fans may have held on to a false sense of hope for a reunion, there’s still a light at the end of the tunnel – 10 memorable seasons fans can watch over and over again.
