Cissy Houston is 82 years old, and for health reasons cannot travel from New Jersey to Georgia right now to be by her dying granddaughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown’s side. That doesn’t stop the mother of the late Whitney Houston from whispering in Bobbi Kristina’s ear everyday, however, as the situation grows bleaker by the hour. A hearse arriving on scene at the hospice and a tent erected, under which the hearse backed in, leaves onlookers fearing the end is perilously near.
Pat Houston, Cissy Houston’s daughter-in-law, has remained at the hospice with Bobbi Kristina almost constantly in recent days, and she holds the phone up to the unconscious 22-year-old’s ear while her grandmother whispers to her. While no one knows what Cissy Houston says to Bobbi Kristina, she is a woman of strong Christian faith, and is likely sharing the promise of better days to come and the imminent reunion with her mom Whitney Houston in Heaven.

Cissy Houston has long had the most practical outlook on the situation with Bobbi Kristina. In an interview back in March, Cissy said she knows Bobbi Kristina’s fate is in God’s hands, and therefore she feels secure in his wisdom.
“I give it to God one time, because I know he’s able, and I cannot change a thing,” Cissy Houston said back in March. “So I’m asking everyone to pray to the Lord, who we know can do something about it.”
Bobbi Kristina Brown has remained unconscious since she was discovered facedown in her bathtub back on January 31st. Cissy Houston experienced the death of her own daughter–Whitney Houston–in an eerily similar manner. Nick Gordon is under investigation for what happened to Bobbi Kristina, and has been served with a $10 million lawsuit, alleging he abused Bobbi Kristina and stole money from her. Bobby Brown, Bobbi Kristina’s father, hasn’t allowed Nick Gordon to visit Bobbi Kristina’s bedside–not in the hospital, nor the rehab center, nor the hospice facility where the family now sits vigil.
In the meantime Cissy knows what she can give Bobbi Kristina–and that’s her love and comfort–even if it’s only over the phone, with help from Pat Houston. As long as Bobbi Kristina feels her grandmother’s tenderness during her last days, Cissy Houston knows the rest is in God’s hands.
