Chewbacca actor Peter Mayhew ran into some trouble recently when he tried to go through an airport with a light saber-shaped cane.
The TSA agents were wary about letting Mayhew through security with the cane and were close to confiscating it despite his assurances that he needed it to walk. As he sat in a wheelchair, he posted pictures of the incident to his Twitter account, and once agents saw that, they relented.
The 7’2″ actor was on his way home from the Denver Comic Con at the time. He later tweeted, “In Dallas. Thank you to @AmericanAir for checking on me. Problem was all @TSA. I’m a million-miler on American and they are a class act.”
The incident gained some notice on Twitter, including from astronomer Ray Sanders.
