  • Chelsea Handler has been making people laugh on her talk show for a little over seven years.

The comedian recently announced that she will be filming her last episode of Chelsea Lately in August and will be leaving the E! network.

“I myself am more surprised than anyone that I was able to hold down a job for seven years, and it was a fantastic seven years,” said Handler, in a statement. “I will always look back at my time on E! as most people look back at their time in college. I’m glad I went.”

Chelsea may seem as if she is a little sad to leave E! but she has said on several occasions how unhappy she is with the network.

While being interviewed on Howard Stern’s radio show she said, “E! is a sad, sad place to live,” adding, “They don’t know what they’re doing. They have no ideas. It’s a failure.”

The E! network had nothing but good things to say about Handler. They released a statement about the last season of the show saying,

“We are very proud of ’Chelsea Lately’s’ long-running success and the unique space that the series carved out in late night television.”

Handler did not give a specific reason for leaving the network but she has said in the past that she would like to change mediums to a forum like Netflix where she would have more freedom.

The talk show will continue to air on the E! network until the last episode in August. The network said that the last month of the show will feature special guests and surprises.
