Chad Johnson is well-known for his role as wide receiver when he played for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2001 to 2010. Later on, he made a name for himself on Dancing with the Stars. He’s currently filming a new reality TV show with his wife called Ev and Ocho. It’s that reality TV show that may be cause for his latest thrust into the spotlight.

Johnson was arrested Saturday night on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge. He reportedly head-butted his wife, Evelyn Lozada, in the forehead. The police report says that the head-butt was caused by an argument the two got in after his wife found a receipt for condoms in Johnson’s car. The head-butt was severe enough to warrant a trip to the hospital for Lozada.

Johnson claims no wrong doing and says that he and his wife just accidentally bumped heads. That may be the reason why the police let Johnson off with a small domestic violence misdemeanor charge. The charge would have been more severe if there was any evidence of more violence beyond a head-butt.

Regardless, Johnson was taken to the Broward County jail where his bond was set at $2,500. He was released Sunday afternoon. The arrest led to Johnson being cut from the Miami Dolphins, a team he had just signed with in June of this year.
