Google is showing a homepage doodle in Canada today in celebration of Canada Day, the country’s holiday for national pride. The day commemorates the anniversary of the British North America Act signed in 1867. It’s now called the Constitution Act. This brought together three colonies to form Canada.
Each year, the holiday is celebrated on July 1st, unless it falls on a Sunday, in which case it’s recognized by the government on July 2nd.
While the holiday is celebrated throughout the country, many each year flock to Canada’s Capital Region. Festivities take place on Parliament Hill, in downtown parks and on the streets. Here’s a look at last year:
