Brett Favre has now become the latest NFL player to claim memory loss after retirement. There is no doubt that players of all positions suffer hard hits and many encounter injuries throughout their careers, but it is often hardest on quarterbacks.
Favre played longer than most players do, and continued to waver in and out of retirement, after finally retiring in 2010.
Favre enjoyed a long career with the Green Bay Packers, before being traded to the Minnesota Vikings for a couple years to close out his career.
Looking back, we can all see that was a mistake, after he suffered an injury in his final season in the league. That injury also ended his long record of consecutive starts.
Despite his retirement in 2010, the Rams called him up earlier this week in order to fill in at quarterback, due to their immense troubles at the position in the 2013 season. A similar situation occurred with Jeff Garcia earlier in the week, as he called up the Browns, hoping to play again.
I wonder what Brett Favre would say if he was asked if he could choose all the money he made or have the memory of his daughters soccer game

The 44-year-old quarterback stated that he had no intention of returning to the NFL, and just a day later, it is revealed that Brett Favre is having memory problems. In a recent interview, he admitted his recent memory problems when saying “This was pretty shocking to me that I couldn’t remember my daughter playing youth soccer, just one summer, I think. I remember her playing basketball, I remember her playing volleyball, so I kind of think maybe she only played a game or two. I think she played eight.”

He felt very scared with the feeling, and admits that over 20 years in the league really took a toll on him. Favre was also sacked more than any other quarterback in history, a total of 525 times.
According to CBS News, he has considered having tests done on his brain to look for signs of concussions, but has not gone throught with it because he feels that even if they do find something, it would be hard to get treatment.
Brett Favre’s memory loss does not come as a surprise, since he also played much of his career before new rules were implemented that protect quarterbacks, and before head-to-head hits were outlawed. There is no telling how many concussions he suffered throughout his career, but there is one that we will all remember, a career-ending shot that left him unconscious on the field.
