There might be some truth to Bobby Brown’s hopeful exclamation that his daughter Bobbi Kristina “is awake,” but it’s just not in the way he hopes.
Days after his announcement that “my baby’s awake” during a performance at the Verizon Theatre in Texas, the singer’s attorney clarified his remarks about Bobbi Kristina’s condition.
Lawyer Christopher Brown admitted that “Bobbi Kristina’s condition has changed since moving from Emory University Hospital and there has been improvement” and added that her doctors have indicated that she’ll live.

“However, Bobbi Kristina is presently embarking on a rehabilitation process and the quality of her life will not be known for years to come,” Brown said.

Aside from Brown’s earlier statement, the news of Bobbi Kristina’s recovery was further fueled by a Facebook post from her aunt Tina, who said the 22-year-old “woke up and is no longer on life support.” However, other sources close to the family said she was still in an unresponsive state. Brown’s wife, Alicia Etheredge-Brown, also gave a statement about her husband’s comments, clarifying that he was in “an emotional state” when he said them.
“He is encouraged by the steps that Bobbi Kristina has made since her hospitalization,” she explained. “She has made it out of ICU, opened her eyes and started a rehabilitation that will be long and hard.”
But an insider disclosed that even though Bobbi Kristina has opened her eyes, she’s still unresponsive and has to rely on a ventilator to breathe.
The only child of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, Bobbi Kristina was found unresponsive in her bath tub last Jan. 31. She was placed in a medically induced coma while being treated for head injuries. Doctors attempted to bring her out of the coma last February but had to put her back under after she had several violent seizures.
She has since been transferred to a private rehabilitation center – possibly in anticipation of a long recovery process.
