Everyone’s favorite television show host, Bob Barker is turning 90 and The Price Is Right will be celebrating his birthday all week. Barker is well known for his love of animals and for supporting pet adoption and spay and neuter programs. In honor of Barker, The Price Is Right will be offering pet adoptions throughout the week and reminding viewers to spay and neuter their pets.
Bob Barker hosted The Price Is Right for 35 years before he retired and a new host, Drew Carey took his spot. During his years of hosting, Barker would end each show by telling viewers to make sure they had their pets spayed and neutered and reminding them to adopt from shelters and rescues instead of buying from breeders or pet stores.
His exact sign off phrase was, “Help control the pet population. Have your pets spayed or neutered.”
Barker will be returning to the show on Thursday, December 12 for his big Birthday Celebration. The show was pretaped on Nov. 5 and the crowd couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw Barker step on the stage.
The Price Is Right is the longest-running game show in TV history. Barker retired in 2007 and his only other appearance on the show since his retirement was in 2009 when he went back to promote his autobiography, Priceless Memories.
