Sick and tired of trying to fit your well-sculpted butt and thighs into a pair of awkward-fitting jeans? Now, thanks to Barbell Apparel, there may be a solution for you.
Barbell Apparel, founded by a team of athletes in Nevada that “spends a minimum of 20 hours a week in the gym” when they’re not “snowboarding, mountain biking, motorcycling, and doing just about any adrenaline fueled movement you can think of,” long-saw the problem of jeans that fit awkwardly for the athletic body-type.
Regular jeans were just too uncomfortable and restricted movement completely. So they came up with their own solution: A superior hybrid denim that allowed for complete freedom of movement, while retaining style and detailed craftsmanship. And so far, it’s catching on.
Starting with a relatively modest goal of $15,000 on their Kickstarter page, Barbell Apparel has raised over $400,000 and been featured in Fast Company, ABC News, and The Washington Post. An article written in the Huffington Post accumulated over 140,000 Facebook “likes” and over 20,000 “shares.”
It’s quite amazing for a team that started out by measuring its athletic friends’ thighs to discover the problem of regular jeans for the athletic body type.
“We wanted jeans that were built for strong, powerful legs that would allow us to move completely freely and still look and feel like fashionable denim,” Hunter Molzen, co-owner of Barbell Apparel, told Fast Company of the company’s philosophy. “Even for active people whose legs aren’t particularly muscular, we wanted to give them a denim option that allows them to have amazing flexibility and freedom of movement.”
According to their Kickstarter page, the company already has “pre-production runs of the denim made and being worn and tested and our production team is ready to produce full orders as soon as funding is received.”

The project is aimed to be funded on Sunday, May 25, 29 days from now.
