Every had one of those mornings where you didn’t even have enough time to brush your teeth? If so, you might want to try the new Blizzident toothbrush. According to Chris Martin, spokesman for Blizzident, this new toothbrush can clean your teeth in 6 seconds. Most dentists recommend brushing for at least 2 minutes.
The Blizzident will cost you about $299 and will last for a year. A replacement costs $159. It looks similar to a mouth guard and fits inside your mouth. A 3-D printer customizes the fit for each customer. You simply move your teeth around and the bristle attached to the brush will do all the work.
Even though the Blizzident will last longer than your regular toothbrush, its price is not likely to attract very many people. For most, this will be considered a luxury item and since it is new on the market, most people won’t drop that kind of money to try it without knowing if it works. Most will wait to see the reviews of other customer and hope for a price drop as well.
Some dentists doubt that the device will work in the advertised 6 seconds and should replace regular toothbrushes.
“There’s some things that don’t make sense about this,” said Dr. Mark S. Wolff, a dentist and associate dean for pre-doctoral clinical education at the New York University College of Dentistry.
Martin says, “The intent was to create a tool that simply cleans perfectly everywhere.” “The six-second brushing time was just a side effect of the invention, but that was not even intended.”
The company promises to share clinical studies on the efficiency of the Blizzident soon.
